I am currently working on some commissioned work at a restaurant/sports bar. The work includes some larger scale murals, hand lettering, and illustrative graphics. By early March, I am aiming for making the place a personal gallery for much of my new work. The restaurant link is above, and the restaurant is scheduled to officially open late February. I will be posting updated images sporadically as the work progresses. Should provide for a cool promotional environment, as every illustrator knows a personal advocate is not easy to come by in the art world.
The client commissioned me to paint the logo graphic in the restaurant entryway. He was looking for more of a personal and traditional feel for the interior as opposed to the sharper graphic from the link. To achieve this desired look, I used thin layers of acrylic and semi-gloss house paint and then a 100 grit sandpaper, allowing the logo to feel older and slightly more reserved. I also took the liberty of adjusting several distracting design elements that just didn't seem to work in the initial stage such as the large negative void in the "D."
